Praying in the Spirit Brings About Glorious Transformation in Our Lives
*[[2Co 3:18]] KJV* But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
The Bible tells us in Hebrews 1:3 that Jesus is the brightness of God's glory and the express image of His person. We catch a glimpse of this glorious image of the Lord in the account at the Mount of Transfiguration: Matt.17:1-9; Mk.9:1-9; Luke 9:27-35.
Luke gives us a very important piece of information about this account. He records that
“And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.”
*[[Luk 9:29]] KJV*
In other words, the transformation occurred while He prayed. This information is important because it lets us know that in the place of prayer, the transformation or change of which Paul speaks of in 2 Cor.3:18 happens.
That is, just as with the Lord, as we give ourselves to praying in the Spirit, we are changed into the same glorious image from glory to glory.
Why in the Spirit?
Well, Paul says that this change happens as by the Spirit of the Lord. This means at the instance of the Spirit or through the Holy Spirit’s direction.
Also, remember that Jude 1:20 teaches us that by praying in the Holy Spirit we are building up ourselves on our most holy faith. It means that by praying in the Spirit we are building up ourselves into the very same glorious image of the risen Lord for we are His body- Eph.1:12,13; 4:12, and have been predestined to be just like Him- Rom. 8:29.
Praying in tongues is one way of praying in the Holy Spirit because it is us speaking as the Holy Spirit gives us utterance- Acts 2:4; 1Cor. 2:7,13.
Therefore, today, give yourself to consistent praying in the Holy Ghost (in tongues, in tongues and interpretation) and watch your life change from glory to glory.
